Welcome to digiscoping.co.uk
It is possible to take pictures through virtually any telescope with a digital camera, there are however some important things you should bear in mind before choosing one. Most birders already own a scope, if you don't and are thinking of getting one, think first about whether you will want be able to use it for digiscoping before you buy.
The size and quality of the eyepiece is one of the most important factors for digiscoping, it is essential that you try to get one that has a large eyepiece lens, this will help reduce vignetting and transmit more light back into the camera. Most telescope manufacturers now produce long eye relief or wide angle eyepieces and these are the ones to look out for. However advances in technology have meant that some zoom eyepieces are so good that they can produce excellent results even when used on their maximum magnification.
A larger objective lens will help when using a still digital camera, the extra light gathering will increase your shutter speed allowing for pictures to be taken in lower light or faster shutter speeds to be achieved. It is possible to use both angled and straight scopes for digiscoping, most users tend to prefer to use an angled, the combination of the angle of the eyepiece and gravity make it easier to hold a camera to the eyepiece.

NEW OPTICRON DIGISCOPING KIT
Opticron FS10 digital compact camera kits are a high quality, easy to use solution to the problem of
choosing a suitable compact camera for high magnification telephotography (digi-scoping). FS10 kits
contain a Panasonic Lumix FS10 camera with 2GB SD memory card and bespoke camera mount
plus the option of one of the following:
a. DCC adapter and 2 inserts for connection to selected HDF T, HDF, HR2 and HR eyepieces
b. Photoadapter push-fit SDL (28mm thread) for connection to the 40935 SDL eyepiece

OPTICRON GS52 TRAVELSCOPE
Introduced in response to increasing demand for quality travelscopes, the GS 52 GA ED sets new standards for light transmission, resolution and colour contrast offering today's birdwatcher a practical and versatile alternative to larger heavier telescopes in situations where size and weight are an issue.Fitted with full-size 24mm prisms from the larger GS, the models deliver optimum light transmission from the 52mm twin-element ED objective lens. Using the HDF T 12-36x eyepiece set between 12x and 18x, the instruments transmit exceptionally bright high contrast images with excellent depth of focus - perfect for hand held or tripod mounted observation between 100m and 200m. Unlike other telescopes of similar size, the GS 52 GA ED retains it’s performance up to 36x, delivering superior colour fidelity for longer range viewing, even in comparatively low light..
Images are not just brighter, they are sharper too. Fitted with the HR2, HDF T or SDL eyepieces, the GS 52 GA ED compares well with the standard GS 665 GA for resolution at magnifications up to 30x. Field of view is also enhanced with certain eyepieces; +30% against the smaller MM2 52 ED with the HDF T 13xWW, and +20% with the HDF T 18xWW.
At just 200mm long, the GS 52 GS ED is designated a Travelscope but features the centrally positioned twin focusing system from the full-size GS models to allow accurate focusing adjustment at higher magnification settings. For garden birdwatching and photography, close focus has been set at just 2.5m.
Fully rubber armoured and nitrogen gas filled for protection against the elements, the models are fitted with a lightweight magnesium tripod sleeve offering -/+ 90° each-way rotation for easier positioning when viewing from the confines of a hide or vehicle.
Fully tested for continuous trouble free use in varying temperatures, GS 52 GA ED travelscopes are supplied with the assurance of limited 30 year guarantee and are fully compatible with the current range of SDL, HDF and HR2 eyepieces and telephoto accessories

All models provide excellent clarity and colour reproduction especially when used with HDF eyepieces.

OPTICRON ES 80
New for 2009 and featuring an upgraded optical system for improved colour contrast and apparent resolution, ES v3 fieldscopes are designed and manufactured to deliver ‘best in class’ optical performance combined with rugged dependability and real user comfort.
Available in three variants; 80mm SD, 80mm ED and 100mm ED the instruments excel in the most important area for the majority of users: image quality. The reduction of almost all visible chromatic aberration at 60x magnification with the 80 SD sets the standard for both definition and tonal quality further improved upon with the 80 ED and 100 ED.

OPTICRON GS
GS FIELDSCOPES
GS 815 GA · GS 665 GA · GS 665 GA ED · GS 815 GA ED
